Think in Seasons!

When you have a branding shoot, it’s a good idea to dress in clothing that fits all the seasons, so you can use the photos year-round. But depending on your business and the time of year, adding in some seasonal outfits and content to shoot may be beneficial to your brand. In fact, it can be great to think in seasons! Here are a few examples of shoots that I’ve done that embrace the different times of the year.

When I shot for Erika of Lady Luxe Beauty, it was a beautiful sunny, warm day. We had actually changed the shoot plan the day before to include a few beach shots because she loves being outside, the location was perfect color-wise for her session and her white outfits matched perfectly with her new and improved website. It’s always so important to match your brand shoot with your brand’s aesthetic!

Melissa of No More Guilt was another warm-weather session. So while we did capture her in some summery shorts and a tee outdoors, we also did some indoor photos in outfits that could be worn during any season. 

For Katie, of Katie McGowan Beauty, not only did we have our shoot during the winter, but she also had some cold-weather beauty-focused blog posts on her content calendar. So having a few photos of her in her winter coat made perfect sense. But we also made sure to get pictures of her in an outfit that could be worn year-round inside so she could use them on her website at any time.

Royal Horizon Media is a social media marketing firm so their business is busy all year round. To begin our shoot, we grabbed some business professional photos and then some casual ones that would be considered evergreen. But because we were doing a few outdoor shots in Newburyport around Christmas time, the two dressed in red and grey overcoats to fit with the holiday decor and the chilly weather. 

For my client, Stephanie of the custom gift box company, Sukeban Creative, the holiday season is a very busy time for her business so Christmas-inspired images are extremely important. Photos using festive colors, prints and props can be influential in gaining customers and making sales. But this unique and fun business runs all year round. So we grabbed shots in neutral shades as well that she can use throughout the year on her website and her social media.

You should always take into account the lifespan of your images. Obviously, evergreen outfits and props can last the longest when it comes to static images on your site and for social media posts. But adding in some seasonal shots, while they may have a short lifespan, can be helpful!
