How to Plan a Pinterest-Worthy Shoot
Pinterest is a treasure trove of inspiration. You can spend hours scrolling through the app, pinning dozens of dreamy images that would be perfect for your brand and bring in business. But how do you plan a Pinterest-worthy shoot?
The key word is “plan” and there are three major aspects to consider if you want to nail those Pinterest-worthy photos.
1. The Perfect Props
It’s all in the details. The props that you add to your photos can tell your audience what you do and what you can do for them. My client Olivia Sylvestro is a brand designer at Current Design Studio, so it was a no-brainer to use Pantone color cards since she works with color every single day! But she also wanted some images to help promote her podcast, Behind the Design, so we made sure to put her podcast mic on the list of props!
2. Wardrobe
Our clothes tell a story and you’re trying to tell your business’s story with a branding session. Pick your wardrobe accordingly. If you’re a fashion blogger, like Kate Andrews of Fashionably Kate & Co., you’ll want to pick fashion-forward outfits. If you’re a business consultant, you may want to wear more business appropriate attire. And if you can get your clothes to match your brand’s color palette - bonus points to you! If you are totally unsure of what makes the most sense for your business, don’t worry, I will provide you with a style guide as part of my onboarding process.
3. Location, Location, Location
It’s true what they say, location is key. Whether it is a blank canvas that will allow you to express your own style, or a unique setting that fits your brand, the location can make or break your shoot.
But in my opinion, the best way to plan a Pinterest-worthy shoot is to do it with me (I may be a bit biased here!).
My Shoot Planning Process
When you book with me, work will begin right away to ensure enough planning before the day of your shoot. I have a thorough planning process beginning with an Image Opportunity Analysis of your website, shop, social accounts and any other online platforms.
We will then jump on a call to discuss your brand’s needs and identify the best props, outfit ideas and location to create your Pinterest-worthy shoot. You’ll also complete a shoot questionnaire and assemble a Pinterest Board to ensure that your final images reflect your brand and goals. All of this will be compiled in a Trello Board for safekeeping and easy access the day-of!
All that pre-planning makes for a fun day of shooting! On the big day you’ll already have everything you need assembled which means all you have to do is sit back, relax and smile for the camera. You can just enjoy the shoot, knowing that you’re in good hands with me.
The best part, my clients LOVE it!
Now that you know how I work, it’s time to get on the books and schedule your branding and headshot session here! Then all you’ll have to do is pin your Pinterest-worthy images and watch those repin alerts roll in!
