Ignore the Likes - 3 IG Insights You Need to Know
It is so easy to get caught up in the likes your images receive on social media. After all, that is the most obvious metric to gauge the success of a post on Instagram and other image sharing sites. But with the latest updates to the algorithm, likes aren’t all that important anymore. In fact, there are a few other factors that will actually boost your image’s visibility on the platform. Here are three IG insights you need to know!
Shares
Shares happen when users share your post to their stories. This allows for your content to be seen by a wider audience and can lead to more followers. To get more shares, think about what type of content you share and then see how you can create similar content of your own!
While this infographic also did well for me with likes, it’s the 62 shares that helped me to reach a whole new crowd. The content was not only valuable but it also really resonated with my followers because it pulled back the curtain on the costs of photography, something that not many people realize!
2. Saves
When I posted this image from my shoot with Dr. Megan-Marie Delegas of Megan Marie PT, 18 people saved it. Saves happen when someone bookmarks your post. This means they like your content so much they want to save it so they can return to it later. Whether they liked my caption, or they liked the photo, those 18 saves helped to boost my photo so more people saw it.
3. Profile Visits
With this shot that I captured for my client, Nicki Krawczyk of Nicky Copy, my profile received 18 visits. Profile visits are important because it shows you how many people visited your profile after seeing a particular post. Watching this metric will allow you to see what posts do well directing a call to action. The combination of the caption and the shot made people want to visit my profile to learn more about me and my services, and that may have led to a few more followers for my Instagram.
