My Favorite Poses for your Personal Branding Photo Session
Just picture it: your personal branding photo session is all planned. After consulting with your photographer you know what outfits to bring, what props to have on hand, the stories you want to tell with your images, and where you’re going to shoot. The last thing you may be thinking is, “but how am I going to pose?” Don’t worry, that’s where your branding photographer takes over. Keep scrolling to see my four favorite poses for your personal branding photo session and why I love them!
The Pose: “The Lean Forward”
Why I Love It: “The Lean Forward,” which is exactly what it sounds like, makes you look approachable by leaning into the camera. It gives a warm, inviting, feeling to the photo and elongates your body. Bonus - this image can also be shot from above which tends to be a flattering angle for most people.
The Pose: “The Look Away and Gimmie a Chuckle”
Why I Love It: If you've worked with me before you know one of my favorite things to say is, "Give me a chuckle on 3 . . . 1, 2, 3.” It may seem awkward at first, but you’ll see the proof in the photos. “The Look Away and Gimmie a Chuckle '' produces a natural, fun smile almost every time. It also provides you with some fun options other than the typical headshot.
The Pose: “The Crossed Arms”
Why I Love It: To be up front, this pose does not work on everyone so before I commit to it I like to test it out on my clients to see how it looks. Another tip when trying out this pose if you’re a woman is to keep your hands out as it is generally a more flattering look. I love “The Crossed Arms” because it emits a sense of confidence and authority, while appearing friendly at the same time. It says, “I am an expert in my field and you’re going to want to work with me” - all in just one photo!
The Pose: “The Sitting with One Knee Bent”
Why I Love It: A general rule of thumb, your limbs should always have some level of bend in them! And for this pose specifically, I love it for my clients that want to give a sense of comfort and coziness, while also feeling approachable. Similar to my last favorite pose, this may not work for everyone, so we may try it, along with slight variations of this pose!
