Brand Photos for Lifestyle Brands
If you’ve been following me and reading my blog for a while you may have noticed that I work work mostly with service-based businesses. However, there are other brands that I will occasionally shoot that don’t sell a product or service, and instead they’re selling a lifestyle. After all, just because they don’t need to capture the typical working shots or a physical item, doesn’t mean they aren’t in need of photos.
In fact, these brands rely heavily on content marketing such as blogs, social media posts, etc., to connect with their audience and sell that lifestyle. To do this, they need photos so they can educate and inform their audience of why they are an authority in whatever niche they specialize in.
Keep scrolling for some inspiration for brand photos for lifestyle brands.
Fashionably Kate & Co.
Kate Andrews is a fashion, travel and lifestyle mom blogger/influencer at Fashionably Kate & Co. who I’ve shot several times for over the years. In fact, when I was just starting out with brand photography, she was one of my first test subjects.
Her shoots always highlight the different pieces of her lifestyle brand: her love of putting together an outfit, her obsession with travel, as well as how she manages it all on top of being a mother to her four year old daughter (with a baby on the way). She also incorporates some of her brand collaborations in her shoots so she can provide her partnerships with high quality images.
In having a folder of images of her home, her closet, hanging out with her little girl, as well as one of her favorite local destinations, Salem, MA, she always has photos to include in her blog posts, on the static pages of her website, as well as on Instagram. And in having a professional photographer shoot her sponsored influencer content, she is ensuring her brand partners are always thrilled with the end results of their collaborations which means they’re more likely to want to work with her again, and it draws other brands to her website and social media feed.
Candy Costas Style
Candy Costas is a 65 year old business owner, mother and grandmother - yes, you read that right - who has also created an amazing lifestyle, fashion, and fitness blog on the side. In her blog she promotes a healthy, fulfilling lifestyle for those of all ages. Part of that lifestyle is all about dressing well, being fit, and committing to being the best you that you can be.
When we were planning her shoot, one thing she noted was she wanted to get images for her blog posts and social media with the ability to actually fully pose without having to “hold the camera” herself all the time. Having full length photos, with freedom in posing, allows her to have some unique content outside of her normal selfie - which can be hard to nail when you’re shooting for yourself.
So when we have our sessions we make sure to grab images in plenty of outfits, of her fitness routine, as well as her off-duty “woman-about-town” vibe. Now she has material for her blog posts, as well as her social media platforms that look polished and fun - exactly how she wants her audience to feel!
Christina Pirolli Fitness
Christina Pirolli is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach and while she is a service based brand, what she does is heavily centered around providing her clients with a certain lifestyle. Her approach to this lifestyle is a mix of strength training, healthy eating and yoga.
To show prospective clients what they can expect from her program, we’ve made sure that our shoots provide examples of these three elements. Throughout her website and social media she uses these images that we have shot together to not only inform clients of her process and encourage them to want to work with her, but also to inspire them to want to live a healthy, active lifestyle. Christina is the perfect example of how a service based brand can leverage lifestyle images to attract clients - including myself. I’ve actually been so inspired by her journey and approach, that I’m officially in Christina’s virtual training program (but that’s a story for another day).
