Insta-Squares Workshop // Girlfriends Boston

Last April I held a small photography workshop for anyone within the Boston region. It turned out amazing and I turns out I love helping people learn how to use their camera! So I wanted to put on another workshop this fall! I put a feeler out in social media land for interest and a fellow blogger reached back out to me with interest in partnering.

May is a blogger who runs Mayaliving, a space where she creates content to help people live their ‘dream life’. She blogs about ways to improve your life and reach simple goals - stuff like how to get rick of bad habits, how to inspire yourself by exploring opportunities and experiences that will push us out of our comfort zones, and she also talks about her style and beauty tips.

Recently May started Girlfriends Boston, a community which she hopes to build so that people can come together to not only make new friends, but have fun doing it. She’s been working hard on planning events throughout the Boston region and when she heard I was trying to plan a workshop, she reached out with some ideas.

We came up with a concept for a casual workshop for the beginner to intermediate DLSR user who is also a blogger, or content creator or fellow photographer. At our workshop, dubbed Insta-Squares, you would be able to shoot fun flat-lays and adorable snacks (which you could eat as well!) while I would help with your camera settings, styling, lighting, etc. when you got stuck! The goal was that we would provide a fun and inviting space with lots of props to shoot that could be used as great content for blogs, websites and Instagram!

The workshop was held on October 13, 2018 at Somerville Studios. While the turnout was smaller than we had hoped, it was still fun to see it all come together. We helped the attendees with styling their props and also with their camera settings when they got stuck! Also, plenty of food was around so we ate!
